About Mistry Yoga
Hey I'm Mandy Mistry,
I'm a primary school teacher with 15 years of classroom experience in the UK and Qatar, and now I'm on a mission to sprinkle some yoga magic into everyone's lives! 🌟 I am trained in 200 hours of yoga teacher training, 50 hours of Yin Yoga, and another 50 hours dedicated to Children's yoga. Plus, I'm trained in meditation therapy, art therapy, and confidence coaching.
Why I want to share yoga?
I'm deeply passionate about yoga because it has been my guiding light through the darkest of times. From my earliest memories, I struggled with confidence issues, anxiety, and the challenges of dealing with stress and significant life changes. For years, I had a casual relationship with yoga, dipping in and out of the practice without fully realising its potential.
However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, my anxiety levels reached new heights. It was during this challenging period that I turned to meditation and yoga as a source of solace and stability. These ancient practices became my pillars of support, completely shifting my outlook on life.
The poses (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), and the relaxation of savasana, along with mindfulness, became my tools for coping with stress, particularly in my role as a primary school teacher. The transformation in my own well-being was undeniable, but it didn't stop there.
As I worked closely with my students, I began to notice the growing physical and mental imbalances, presenting as learning challenges, anxiety and stress, that were affecting their learning experiences. This was the motivation for incorporating yoga and mindfulness into our busy school day, as I saw the potential to make a meaningful impact on their lives. Giving them the tools I wish I had, had when I was younger.
My passion for yoga grew to the point where I felt a deep calling to share its transformative power on a broader scale. While I cherished my role as a full-time primary school teacher, the underlying issues, anxieties, and challenges that I witnessed in my students and their families began to weigh on me. It was increasingly clear that incorporating yoga and mindfulness into the school day, although impactful, was just the tip of the iceberg. I realised that I needed to do more to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of children and their families.
This realisation led me to a difficult but ultimately rewarding decision. I decided to leave full-time teaching, a role I loved, to devote my energy and passion to sharing yoga on a grander stage. It wasn't an easy choice, but it was driven by a deep desire to help more children and families enhance their life experiences, find resilience in the face of life's challenges, and uncover the inner strength that yoga had brought to my own life. This journey of sharing yoga has become my mission, and I'm excited to empower others to lead healthier, happier, and more balanced lives through the practice of yoga and mindfulness.
